UPDATE ON LANGUAGE ACCESS ON THE FEMINIST LEADERSHIP HUB

Dear Hub Community,

We hope you’re all well and finding ways to weather the storms of this world together! 🌸

We are writing today with a short update regarding the Feminist Leadership Hub’s journey towards language justice. Last year, based on the results of a survey as well as operational considerations, we introduced French as the second language for operations within the Hub, offering all community check-ins and spaces with interpretation. However, due to the unfortunate non-renewal of the grant supporting our French interpretation efforts, we have not been able to offer interpretation across all spaces.

While we have continued our communication in both French and English, we realise it may have created confusion around the availability of French interpretation across engagement spaces. Thus, we have arrived at the difficult decision of discontinuing our communication in French and moving forward, all our communication will solely be in English. If and when we have the resources to provide French interpretation in any engagement space, we will ensure that we communicate that accordingly.

This was not an easy decision for us but we believe it is important to be transparent about the current ecosystem of resourcing and the constraints that we are all familiar with and are navigating on a regular basis. We are working towards securing resources for the Hub, and in the meantime our team will reevaluate how best we can approach language justice in the future for the Hub.

We truly appreciate your support and understanding through this and we welcome any questions, comments or feedback you may have for our team.

Warmly,
The Feminist Leadership Hub team
